Kia ora whanau,
The weather has certainly seen us get our winter woollies out over the last week. With more clothing being worn it’s a good time to remind families to name all clothing, including hats, scarves and gloves. On Wednesday 28th June, we are holding a Mix and Mingle afternoon to celebrate Matariki and for families to meet other Grow families. We will start at 4.30pm and finish at 6.30pm and invite families to bring a picnic dinner. Please see the flyer attached for more information.

Communication with Whanau

We have a few ways that you can let us know how we are doing at Grow and what you would like to see happen at our centre. You can, call us, send an email, talk to us face to face, send us a message through Stroypark or complete the form in the foyer (Start / Stop / Keep)
All feedback is welcome and it is important that you get to contribute to what happens at Grow. Below are a few examples of recent feedback.

“Brilliant centre. The staff are all friendly and engaging and genuinely interested in the children and their families. My daughter is so happy there, she is sad on the days she doesn't get to go as she loves it so much”

“Grow is a wonderful Early Childcare centre and I am very pleased they have met all our needs with my one year old son, included using cloth nappies. They leave me feeling happy and confident that my son is in the best hands possible and he has settled in very well with the lovely staff there, couldn't be happier”

Google Review

We would love it if you would consider taking a couple of minutes to review Grow ECE on Google. See attachments for steps on how to write a review.

Children’s Birthdays

Birthdays are exciting times for children and we want to recognise and celebrate this special time with your child at Grow ECE. As we grow our traditions we have decided that we will celebrate birthdays by honouring your child on their birthday or on a day as close as possible. If this is something you do not want your child to participate in, please let us know. Our emphasis will be around giving your child a chance to wear the birthday hat (there are 2 to choose from), there will be a play/pretend cake to blow candles out on, and a birthday card. If there is something special your child would like to share from home they are welcome to bring it in and once they have shared it we will put it away safely (a card, a toy, etc). We are discouraging food contributions from families for a number of reasons. In the main it’s because we now have so many allergy and food intolerance considerations.

Teachers Request

• Remember we are a NUT FREE centre, this does include peanut butter. Please ensure no nuts are in your child’s lunch box.
• Please name your child’s belongings.
• If you have any milk bottle tops or small yoghurt containers we would love to take these off your hands.

Te Reo

Te reo that we have been introducing to your children over the last month.
• Mōrena – Good morning
• Ka kite anō – See you again
• Kei te pēhea koe? – How are you?
• Wharepaku – Toilet
• Haere mai – Come here

We currently have a promotion running through facebook for all new enrolments to Grow, of course we didn’t want our current families to feel left out so you can still take advantage of our ‘Refer a Friend’ Promotion.
*Refer a friend to Grow ECE and when they enrol we will give you a 50% discount off your next month parent fees. There is no limit to the number of friends you can refer, and we will give you 1 month 50% discount for each family who enrols. Enrolments must be for a minimum of 10 hours per week. If you have any questions regarding the promotion, please see Anita or Rachel in the office.

Safe Surfer

Huge congratulations to Aaron Sinclair (one of our fantastic Grow ECE Directors) and Rory Birkbeck who have received a $15,000 grant from BayTrust to promote Safe Surfer and to encourage more families to actively protect their kids from inappropriate online content. You can download free iPad/iPhone and Android apps from the website www.safesurfer.co.nz and read the article published in the New Zealand herald.
